Transformation!

So McKay and I had nothing in the entry area of our apt. for the whole year we have been living here.  It was 8 ft. of blank wall.  It really bugged me.  I was always trying to think what I would do with that space but I couldn't ever think of anything to put there.  After stealing ideas from Stephanie Clawson I kept my eyes open and found this at DI for $8.  

 

The paint was all chipped and had marker all over it.  So I stripped and sanded it.  Thats was not really fun.  I did most of the work in the backyard unlike this picture. 

While in the backyard I sat down in the grass and it felt like I sat in a puddle.  Kind of irritated I got up and started sanding again thinking it would just dry off.  Well, the wet feeling turned into a burn-your-skin-off feeling and I realized I sat in paint stripper.  Not cool.  I stuffed newspaper down my pants too keep it off my skin so I could keep working.  I hope none of my neighbors saw me... haha

In this last picture you can see to the left the tan fabric that is hanging from the ceiling. 

  Since we moved into the apt. we both felt like the living room, kitchen, and entryway needed to be separated from each other, rather than feeling like we lived in a massive hallway.  McKay and I looked for partitions online but the only ones we liked happened to be  $600.  So we were stuck.  One day I was brainstorming and I though of an idea.  I could just hang a cute shower curtain up and it would do the same thing but for only $30.  So that's what we did and it looks  good.

Civil Defense cave

The Rexburg fair was this weekend and McKay and I went.  It was free so it was the perfect price! haha!  When we went a ammeter rodeo was going to start and they had tons of kids lined up for it.  We decided this would be a good thing to watch.

We watched Mutton Busting and most of the kids lean off to one side and then fall off. There was one kid who rode like a pro, without leaning, and one hand in the air.  The only way the could get him off the sheep was to pull him off.  When the boy was done he threw his hat off in the air.  It was hysterical!

There was calf riding too but this looked kinda painful.  

They also had lassoing and tying up of calfs... (I don't know if there is a name for that)

2 Year Anniversary!!

Yesterday was our anniversary!  Yay! 2 years!  It has gone by so fast it doesn't seem like it has been that long.  I guess time flies when you're having fun. 

We didn't really do anything spectacular for our anniversary.  Once McKay got off of work we went to Applebees to eat.  We were going to go to the dollar theatre to watch a movie but we didn't because lots of single college kids go there to flirt and make noise during the movie.  So we decided to rent one.  We just spent the rest of the night watching the movie and enjoying each other's company.

McKay got me two different bouquets of flowers.  One of roses for the romance part and a mixed bouquet for the crazy!  He is so cute! I love him and have always been glad that we are married!

One of my favorite parts of being married is you hang around each other so much that there are jokes and funny sayings that only you two understand.  If you were to say them around other people they would just think your crazy.

My family came up to Idaho to do Idaho-y things so they chilled at my apartment.

It was fun having them over.

Oh I almost forgot.  We went to Lava a couple days ago, mom rented tubes, and we floated down the rapids... It was REALLY FUN!  If you haven't gone I highly suggest going.

Just because Timpanogos wasn't enough...

We hiked "R" Mountain!  Whoo hooo!  What a hard hike! just kidding...

Once we got back from Goblin Valley we hiked Timpanogos Mountain.  

We didn't hike the trail that just lead to the caves.  We hiked up the WHOLE mountain (well some of us did.)

This is the second waterfall along the trail and the water was freezing.  I tried to keep my feet in for a minute but I couldn't make it.

The hike was extremely steep and a huge workout.  I was in the slow group.  This is a picture of McKay, Adam, and Uncle Martin as they taunted us from above.  They were the fast group.

When I finally made it to the top of that lookout point we took this picture.

The next part of the hike was to reach the boulder field.  Once we reached that Aaron, Adam, Mom, and I went back down.  Keith, Uncle Martin, Amanda, and McKay didn't turn around and they kept hiking up the mountain until they reached the top.

Here they are at the glacier lake.  They are tough.

Apparently Amanda tried to get in the water but she was only up to her knees before she had to get out because of pain.  That glacier water is cold!

They also found the spring up there.  McKay said it tasted exactly like Spring bottled water.

They were up so high they saw mountain goats too.

  Do mountain goats fall off of mountains very often?  Just wondering...

Slot Canyons

These narrow slot canyons were filled with wind blown stone.  It looked really cool.

Goblin Valley

First off I have to say that a game of paintball, flashlight tag, capture the flag, or kick the can would be soooooooooo fun in Goblin Valley.  I have to do that before  I die!  Does anyone want to join?

Trapped in Hollow Mountain!

My family came out to Utah for Craig's wedding and while we were in Utah we decided to go to Goblin Valley and the Slot Canyons. On our drive down we stopped at this really cool gas station that was carved out of this mountain.. Cool.  

When we tried to leave the car wouldn't start.  I found these two cool signs while I was burning up time in the gas station.

We were really far away from everything.  The nearest Dodge dealer (where we could get the car fixed) was 2 hours away and the nearest Thrifty car rental place was 5 hours away. 

I walked around the extremely small town that consisted of 2 motels, 2 restaurants and a gas station.  This was a really sketchy motel.

This motel had really cool "lawn art" in the front.
