The nifty fifty!

Santa blessed me well for Christmas,  I am now a proud owner of a new prime lens!  YAY!  Man, I must have been good or something.  I wanted one for a while (but esp now since the little one is coming.)  So when our family went on a hike up Sugarloaf Mountain to enjoy the 60 degree weather we took this bad boy out for a test run.  So please don't judge us, because this was mainly a learning experience.  I still have so much to get comfortable with it is just exciting!  I found this site and this site that give good tips getting the sharpest image and now I want to go out and shoot again!
McKay snapped these of me on my rest/break trying to climb up huge rocks.  Please excuse the messy wild-woman mama-bear hair and lack of makeup.

Thank you santa!
And if any of you have tips or stories about prime lenses, low f stops, bokeh, and getting the sharpest pictures ever please tell me.  I love hearing about what works for other people.

That nesting thing

So here is our living quarters.  Luckily I got a bag of old clothes from a girl at work.  McKay loved going through them and it's made us even more excited.  I hope she will be cute!

Christmas and New Years

Christmas is always fun to spend with family.  We went to Christmas Eve Mass at the local Catholic church who had a very nice program.  I think next year we should go to a Holy Rock and Roller church service.  Sunday morning we obviously went to our own church and I still don't understand why it was only an hour long, b/c isn't that they day we are supposed to be thinking of Christ the most? But it was fun to get home and get the party started.
We started off Christmas with the traditional ooey gooey sticky buns and opened presents.  I tried to make a yarn wreath for my mom and I'm not sure if I succeeded but that is another story for another day. Aaron gave everyone lots of gifts and he even hid amanda's inside the tree and she had to search and reach them out. Aaron asked santa for a lot of funny things like "a cd with a female singer" so what did Santa bring him?  A Disney Princess CD.  He also asked for a truck and a dog and he got a 50cent down payment for the truck and a dog magnet.  Santa seems like the naughty one this year if you ask me.  haha
We also went to Grandmas and had Christmas dinner.  I'm wearing McKay's shirts now, you like? Christian came too even though he had to start work that night too...
Here we are at our traditional post-Christmas dinner at Red Robin thanks to Sherrie.  And the baby loves the unlimited side salad and fries I can tell you that.
For New Years we went to the Stake dance/party.  In one gym was the adult dance and in the other gym was the teenager dance.  It was a lot more fun than you think it was.  Aaron even busted out his shuffling skills during the Party Rock Anthem with mom and Keith.
