I have another sweet hobby

I am in a book arts class this semester and now I am learning how to make books! It is so much fun! This is the second one I have made. I get to turn it in this thursday and learn how to make more BOOKS! Even though this book doesn't look that cute in the picture, it is adorable in real life.

FLOWERS!! OH YEAH!

I did this big mama arrangement yesterday in my new floral class.  It is like 3ft tall... It is going to go underneath the podium for devotional.  It doesn't look as cool right now because the sunflowers aren't open yet.

This was my final project for last semesters flower arranging class.  I picked out everything and made the container in ceramics.

Geology Extra Credit: Photo of Teton Dam

I took a Natural Disasters class this semester and I needed some extra credit to boost my grade.  The only extra credit available was to go to Teton Dam and take a picture of yourself there.  My friend Natalie who was in the same class wanted to go as well so we decided to carpool.  I brought McKay along and Natalie brought David.   We were driving down highway 33 when we saw there was a road closed sign and a construction truck sitting in the way.  We went up and asked him when the road would be open because we really wanted the extra credit.  He then told us that we could go through with a "special security clearance."  He let us go through and eventually we saw the sign that said to turn left for Teton Dam.  We were turning left and saw a little bit of snow at the entrance of the road.  We all decided that the snow didn't look that deep and we should just go for it... well look were that got us.

We tried to dig the car out but pretty much ended up bottoming out. HA HA!

So it was time for plan B.

McKay and David decided to walk to a nearby (relatively) farmers house to ask for a shovel.  Their walk was a long one.  This is a picture of them walking down the road.  Since Natalie and I didn't want to come out empty handed we decided to walk to the dam and get the picture.

We saw cool snowdrifts.

I think there is supposed to be a road around here somewhere...

These were really big snowdrifts.  We didn't run into one this big but they definitely look smaller when you are in a car.

This was the picture that was worth all of the dough... I got that extra credit in case anyone was wondering.  Natalie and I even asked for some more points since we got stuck and were the only ones in our class that actually made it to the dam.  He didn't give it to us.  All he said was "Thats south east Idaho for ya!"

In case you were wondering how we escaped, while McKay and David were shoveling snow, and Natalie and I were walking back to them, a huge snowplow came and helped us out.  The weather was really bright, sunny, and very warm for Rexburg.  We actually had a lot of fun.

Grillage

It has been the first warm day in Rexburg so we decided to grill something.  Yeah!  It was probably a high of 60 that day.  We made hot dogs and bacon wrapped asparagus. Yummm!

McKay got the grill from Santa, even though it was in March.

It was very windy that day too.  McKay had to hold the grill the whole time so it wouldn't fly over.  It was kind of funny.

Girls Weekend To Boise

While McKay and Layne went to Denver, my friends Jenny, Kritika, and Majia went to Boise to take Kritika to a Hindu temple (because she is Hindu.)  We wanted to go just to see what it was like.  We did other things while we were there but that was the big one.  We had a lot of fun!

On the trip we found a bead store.  I have never been to one but it was super fun.  We stayed there for a couple hours making earrings.

Kritika brought a whole bunch of clothes from Nepal and we tried them on at the hotel.

Before the hotel, we went to a Hindu temple and it was interesting.  Kritika was weirded out because in Nepal the temples were quiet sacred places, but here it was loud with people singing, dancing, throwing water, and sniffing flowers.  She said she felt more spirit at the Rexburg Temple open house than there.  They tried to get us all to dance, but we were like "No thanks.  We will just watch."  After the hour or so of dancing, they invited us to their feast and then to play Holy.  I don't really understand the point of Holy, but you throw powdered and liquid paint at each other.  

So Braiden convinced McKay that waxing your nose hairs is cool.  They both did it. Sharon put a popsicle stick with hot wax in their nose and let it cool down.  I was very surprised because she yanked them out of their nose when no one was suspecting it.  I wasn't even expecting it.  McKay was screaming for a couple seconds, and then after that he decided he liked being hairless.

Don't you just want to yank them out?? Just kidding.

In NYC we went to the biggest toy store in the world and they had these sweet dollhouses!

Randomness of 07

We did more touring of DC...  It would take months to actually see everything there..

Oh yes, I took McKay to the Renaissance Festival.  He even said he liked it. 

I guess I am turning him into a dork... oops!

Biggest dandelion in the world!

This is the lab for vertebrates and invertebrates.  We had to dissect fetal pigs.  Me and my lab partner always got last pick of the animals because we didn't really care about getting the biggest ones.  This pig was the smallest and other people's pigs were about the size of a 10 lbs baby.  Other things that we dissected in that class was an intestinal parasite wormy thing, crab, fish, squid, mud puppy, and shark.

This was in Porters.  McKay was trying to "camouflage."

Did you know the Pocatello Pet Store has a monkey?? He looks so sad and cute.

We read the sign by his cage and he is not so innocent.  He is being incarcerated for the rest of his life because he attacked a couple people.

Braiden and Sharon's wedding!!

Ok, this cake was seriously the best smelling and tasting.  Since Mavis, Phil, and I sat at the table right next to the cake, we kept getting wafts of chocolate-y air blasted towards us.  It was torture but we got to eat some eventually.
