For the longest time (4 years to be exact) I have wanted to go the ice caves. The road to get to the ice caves is so horrible that you HAVE to have four wheel drive and since no one I know has four wheel drive we have never gone. That is, until we decided to bike there. In this picture the road looks very nice but in many places there are deep ruts and lots of sand. Heather fell off her bike hitting one of the sand patches it was pretty funny.
These caves were hidden, no signs, no nothing. Just a dirt road, five miles later tons of lava rock. Then you have to dive into a gigantic pit and search for the cave opening.
We made rockin knee pads out of hand towels and duct tape. What a LIFESAVER. We should have made one for our butt though, sitting on the ice got SOOO cold
there was ice stalagmites, stalagtights and crystals everywhere. This is heather and the AWESOME ceiling
We had to repel a few feet inside the cave... How adventurous of us (notice the 12ft ice stalagmite behind me)
