The Boston Bombing has really been a whirlwind for me. The first bomb went off in the same place we were standing last Patriots Day in 2011. In the pictures of my old blog post, you can see (as I was looking down the street) that Bank of America was on there on the right, then the intersection of Exeter st, and then the Tannery.
Which would put me right in front of the Lens Crafters...
Crazy….
I am still trying to wrap my mind around it.
I have been there like 100 times.
This leads me to believe that us leaving Boston was no mistake. McKay would have been in his third year of school which means that he would have been spending most of his time doing clinicals, most likely in a Lens Crafters (because NECO did a lot of work with them). And/or we could have decided to celebrate Patriots day and go to the most convenient place, which was the finish line. And I'm not trying to drag myself into this with the woulda-coulda-shoulda game. What happened, happened. It just makes me wonder.
I think that the Lord was really watching over us when he told us to get the crap out of Boston, even though we didn't really like it at the time. Not that we wouldn't go back, but being there at that time wasn't the right thing. I am grateful that my family is still here and safe, that we have all of our legs, that we are healthy.
There is still crazy stuff going on, like shootouts in Watertown, and car chases in Cambridge. This is so weird. These places aren't what you would consider "dangerous" or "the bad part of town." In fact, Cambridge is pretty hoity-toity. And Watertown is pretty family friendly, or at least that was my impression of it when I went there with my friend Emily searching for an air conditioner.

My prayers are with the victims, their families, the police, and the whole city of Boston. I am grateful that none of my friends were hurt, but sad that someone else's friends were. I am grateful that the Atonement will allows us to be together with our families again.
This is crazy, ugly crap and Boston isn't a warzone. I know that those bad guys will get what they deserve, in this life or the next. God will decide what He has in store for them and I will leave that in His hands (and the FBI.)
